Blake Kuwahara’s work doesn’t go unnoticed. He has been nominated four times for the Silmo d’Or — the most prestigious award in the global eyewear industry — winning in 2016 for Best Optical Design for the “Kahn” model.

Blake Kuwahara is one of the most celebrated independent eyewear designers working today — and at Konstantin Vision, as an authorized Blake Kuwahara dealer, we carry his collection at our New York City showroom.
Launched in Fall 2015, the Blake Kuwahara brand is the creative output of a designer who brings something rare to eyewear: a doctorate of optometry from UC Berkeley combined with deep roots in fashion and fine design. Before launching his own label, Kuwahara gained international acclaim designing KATA Eyewear, and has created collections for Carolina Herrera, John Varvatos, Coach, and legendary Japanese haute couture designer Hanae Mori.
His signature technique — the “frame within a frame” — involves laminating an inner silhouette inside an outer shape, fusing contrasting forms and colors into a single seamless piece. The result is eyewear that feels thoroughly modern yet completely familiar: design tension you can feel in your hands before you even put it on.
Kuwahara’s philosophy is simple: eyewear should enhance your personality, not substitute for one. Every frame should feel as good in your hand as it does on your face.
